Monte Generoso is situated in the heart of a nature park known beyond Switzerland’s borders. Standing majestically on the mountain’s rugged plateau is the new “Fiore di pietra“ (stone flower). The building was created by the famous architect Mario Botta and features picture windows that frame the breathtaking panorama. Two restaurants flooded with light and a conference room with magnificent mountain views provide the ideal setting for fine dining, unforgettable family celebrations and exceptional corporate events.
The “Fiore di pietra” is designed so that a partition wall can section off a separate room for up to thirty guests.
Since 1890, the rack railway provides transport along a picturesque nine-kilometre stretch of mountain scenery carrying passengers from Capolago on Lake Lugano to the mountain summit at 1704 m altitude. Monte Generoso offers visitors plenty of opportunities for relaxing strolls, more demanding hikes and for delving into history. We look forward to welcoming you!
Monte Generoso is the main vantage point in the Canton of Ticino and one of the most fascinating places in Switzerland. The stunning view stretches all the way from the Apennines to the Alps, allowing visitors to admire from afar the lakes of northern Italy and the Gran Paradiso chain, from Monte Rosa to the Matterhorn and from the Jungfrau to the Gotthard Massif.
Information boards help to identify valleys, lakes, villages, and peaks. Sunrise and sunset, when the sky and the land are bathed in a sea of color, transforms the landscape into an emotionally charged spectacle.
The Fiore di pietra at the summit of Monte Generoso was reconfirmed for the second year running as the most beautiful meeting location in Ticino and among the most beautiful in Switzerland!
The Swiss Location Award® 2023 was sanctioned by 58'394 event organisers and location visitors as well as an independent jury of experts.
The special feature of the Fiore di pietra, designed by the world-famous architect Mario Botta, is also the harmonious contiguity between indoor and outdoor spaces, which allows for different types of meetings.

Go where the road takes you! This is the moto of the 1600-kilometre-long itinerary of the Grand Tour of Switzerland 2022, which this year also touches on Monte Generoso, which with its 1890 cogwheel railway and its Fiore di pietra at 1704 metres is one of the emblems of tourism in Ticino and Switzerland.
A Road Trip that, with Roger Federer and Anne Hathaway as exceptional testimonials, crosses four linguistic regions and five Alpine passes, visits thirteen UNESCO World Heritage Sites, two Biospheres and skirts no fewer than 22 lakes, guiding us to the most beautiful and often still unknown places in Switzerland, to be travelled on four or two routes in complete freedom.
Thus, even the Fiore di pietra at the summit of Monte Generoso will be framed by the photo station along with the breathtaking panorama that surrounds it. Another pearl to be added to Switzerland's most beautiful tourist attractions!
