We are pleased to announce that our new website is in full development.
As of 2024, we will be offering you a totally revamped platform that will allow you to book your tickets directly online. However, this functionality is not yet available so you can continue buying the tickets directly in Capolago, before boarding the train.
If you still prefer to purchase train tickets online you can currently do so via the website of the Swiss railways sbb.ch for the routes of the Monte Generoso. Half-fare or GA travelcard holders receive a 50% discount on their ticket (not cumulative). Before boarding the train, the customer shall present the digital or paper ticket and any valid GA or Half-fare travelcard.
Children 0-5 years of age travel free of charge and do not require a ticket. The same applies to young people (6-15 years of age) accompanied by the parents and in possession of a Junior Card.
For all other tickets and in the case of coupons or discount vouchers, please purchase it directly at our ticket office in Capolago before boarding the train.
We would also like to remind you that reservations are only possible and compulsory for groups of 10 persons and more.

For holders, we offer a 30% discount on return tickets. This offer allows you to discover the natural and cultural wonders of Ticino in a convenient way, making every excursion an unforgettable experience.

Prices: 30% discount applicable on standard rates for adults, youths and children.
Conditions: Offer valid for Ticino Ticket holders. Discount valid on all return tickets.

Train and Lunch
With the 'train + lunch’ combination, you can save money while enjoying a delicious culinary experience at our self-service restaurant. The prices are:
- Adults: CHF 75.-
- Children: (6-15 years old): CHF 45.-
We will take you from Capolago to the Monte Generoso summit with the electric cogwheel train according to the regular timetable. Choose a dish from the delicious buffet, sip a dispenser drink and enjoy an espresso to round off your meal in the best possible way!
In addition, with a contribution of only CHF 1.- to myclimate, you can travel sustainably.
Conditions: Only valid at the "Monte Generoso" self-service restaurant
The offer is valid for the ticket Capolago-Vetta-Capolago, while it does not apply to steam trains, special rides or combined offers and promotions.
