The Astronomical Observatory is open to the public and is at the disposal of anyone interested in its activities.
The Observatory was inaugurated on 26 August 1996 by an exceptional godmother, the astrophysicist Margherita Hack from the University of Trieste.

The facilities at Vetta, on the summit of Monte Generoso, comprise a room equipped with multimedia resources for use in courses and conferences.
The Observatory is open to the public and all those with an interest in astronomical science.
The Insubrica Astronomy Group, which draws on the resources of the Monte Generoso Observatory, will be glad to provide experts for the guidance of visitors during observations.
Observation evenings are organised for individuals or groups with an interest in astronomy, school groups, etc.
Special evening trips on the Monte Generoso cogwheel railway can be organised for groups of a minimum of 30 persons. The train departs from Capolago and climbs to its destination, Vetta, 1,704 metres above sea level.
