The flowers of Monte Generoso,
marvellous jewels of nature
The limestone substratum of Monte Generoso has fostered the development of more than 800 plant species: a notable number that makes this zone one of the most precious in the Ticino. Among this enormous number of varieties can be found some very rare species, some of which do not exist anywhere else in Switzerland.

- Peony (Paeonia officinalis)
- White asphodel (Asphodelus albus)
- Tufted lousewort (Pedicularis gyroflexa)
- Bear’s ear primrose (Primula Auricula)
- Silvery yarrow (Achillea Clavenae)
- "Il garofano di Montpellier" (Dianthus hissopifolius)
- Meadow rue (Thalictrum acquilegiifolium)
- Pink swallow gentian / Willow leaf gentian (Gentiana asclepiadea)
- Flower-of-Jove (Lychnis Flos-Jovis)
- Narcissus flower – thimbleweed (Anemone narcissiflora)
- Yellow thistle (Cirsium Erisithales)
- Christmas rose (Helleborus niger)
- Autumn crocus (Colchicum autumnale)
- Cyclamen (Cyclamen purpurascens)
- Plough-share serapias - The Long Lipped Serapias (Serapius vomeracea)
