Monte Generoso, Sun and Snow at 360 Degrees

Monte Generoso is the mountain offering the most spectacular view in the whole of the Ticino. The summit is reached by a comfortable, heated cog railway train that leaves Capolago, on the Lake of Lugano, which is 274 m above sea level and reaches the summit, at 1,704 metres altitude after a 40 minute journey through unspoilt countryside.
A winter excursion on Monte Generoso is as good as a summer outing. In the sun, albeit above the mist and fog, one can admire the majestic snow-covered Alpine chain as well as the Lakes region and the Po Valley, shimmering with a silver covering of frost.
The calm of the snow-covered landscape, lounging in the sun on the panoramic terrace without any ski lifts to disturb the peace, make this a very peaceful, restful experience. The trains, the restaurants and the rooms of the Vetta are heated and on the panoramic terrace there are deck chairs available free of charge.
