The Monte Generoso Railway

The summit at an altitude of 1,704m is reached by a little cogwheel railway train, after travelling for some 40 minutes through unspoilt nature. From the top a 360° view can be enjoyed over the Lakes region, the Po Valley right over to the Apennines and the Alpine chain: from Gran Paradiso to Monte Rosa, from the Matterhorn to the Jungfrau and from the St. Gotthard massif right over to the Bernina ranges.

Relive the “belle époque”

Several times a year it is possible to relive a fascinating trip in the style of the “belle époque”.
It can be on the 1890 steam locomotive (the oldest one still in operation in Switzerland), or the diesel tractors of the 50s that push the panoramic carriages (open-sided) dating from 1890, right to the summit.
Upon request, it is possible to organize special trips for groups.
